Meet the patient
A 28-year-old plumber, eight days clear of a methamphetamine binge, asks for help staying stopped. He tried an AA meeting once and walked out when the Lord's Prayer started. His urine is stimulant-negative today. He wants "something that works, not a pamphlet."[8][10]
This topic is the answer to that sentence. Two evidence-based levers are now live for him — a secular mutual-help pathway matched to his objection, and a contingency-management protocol that turns today's negative urine into the first rung of an escalating schedule. Examiners test whether you can deploy both without confusing them with each other.[4][15]
