Prompt
You are asked to anaesthetise a child for 3 T MRI brain and, separately, to state organisational standards for remote-site anaesthesia. Describe MRI zones and screening, equipment and monitoring constraints, anaesthetic technique options, and emergency management including arrest and quench.

Model answer

Remote-site standards (3). Same safety standards as OR: trained help, checked O2/suction/drugs, full monitoring including capnography for GA, recovery pathway, working emergency call system.[1]

Zones & screening (4). Zones I–IV; Zone IV = magnet room; screen patient/staff/equipment; MR Safe/Conditional/Unsafe; unknown implant → do not scan; no ferromagnetic cylinders/tools.[2][3]

Technique & monitoring (4). Induction bay vs in-room plan; MRI-conditional airway/ventilator/pumps; SpO2, NIBP, special ECG, capnography; avoid lead loops; ear protection; TIVA common.[1]

Emergencies (4). Arrest: CPR, remove from Zone IV to resus bay with defibrillator; quench: evacuate, asphyxiation risk; projectile protocol.[1][2]
