Prompt
You are the gynaecology registrar in a familial cancer clinic. A 34-year-old woman, G1P1, attends with a letter confirming she carries a pathogenic BRCA1 variant, identified after her mother's death from ovarian cancer at 49. She has a six-month-old baby and wants to know what this means for her ovaries, her breasts, and her daughter. The examiner will take you through risk figures, the surgical decision, its consequences, and your communication with her.
Station format
Four minutes reading, twelve minutes examination, 20 marks, global scoring across the eight RANZCOG oral domains: history and examination; investigations and interpreting results; treatment/management; clinical knowledge; complex/unusual presentations; rapport; respect; communication. [11]
