Counselling a woman with suspected macrosomia — communication station
Communication station: tests the candidate on counselling a woman with suspected macrosomia — framing the EFW estimate honestly, explaining the shoulder dystocia risk and its weak prediction, presenting the induction evidence and the ACOG caesarean thresholds, and supporting an individualised decision. Includes assessor key, marking domains, and fail criteria.

Station brief
Format. Communication station, approximately 12 minutes. You are the registrar in the antenatal clinic with a midwife. The assessor will play the woman; a second examiner observes the counselling and the decision-making. [1]
Candidate instruction. Counsel the woman on her growth scan result, the limitations of estimated fetal weight, the risks of macrosomia, the options for timing and mode of birth, and support her in an individualised decision. [1][5]
